Fun Day 2012
Once again the time has come for another one of our fantastic Fun Days, so put this date in your diaries! 15th SEPTEMBER. Last year saw over 850 people attend, and we hope for more each year. Our theme this year is ONE WORLD and along with our normal fun activities, we will have a range of activities and food representing the cultural mix of Wellingborough.
Survey of the Month
Wellingborough Homes staff based at Thompson Court, working within our Supported Living Schemes, and Estate Caretakers out on our estates, wear uniform.
We are due to refresh our uniform supply which creates the chance for us to pause and find out what staff, and tenants and residents who come into contact with Wellingborough Homes think about the merits of uniforms before we buy.
This is your opportunity to tell us what you like, or don't like, about us having staff dressed in uniforms in general and to tell us what your preference would be, ranging from casual / informal to formal. Click on the picture "what do you think?" above or here to get to our short questionnaire.
Tackling Worklessness:
Boosting Skills
Our passion for Wellingborough, our knowledge of its history, its people and its challenges mean we are well placed to be a catalyst for the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live. In doing so we can protect the value of our housing assets and utilise them more effectively to expand the services we offer in response to our current and future tenants needs.
Working with key partners to address worklessness and to boost skills has never been so important at a time of growing unemployment and wider economic constraints. Our ‘Tackling Worklessness: Boosting skills’ (Worklessness [pdf] 2MB) sets out just some of the exciting projects we are currently involved in and the partnerships that we are creating to ensure a more cost effective and joined up approach to the delivery of support services.
Making a statement:
Equality, diversity and fairness
Wellingborough Homes has launched its Diversity Statement 2012 , showing how we respect and cater for people’s differences in all our work.
The statement explains how equality and diversity fit into and support our vision to create better places to live through quality, well-maintained homes and improved services. It sets out how we promote fairness both as an employer and a provider of homes, housing and community services.
The statement covers the new duties in the Equality Act 2010 to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination
- advance equality of opportunity
- foster good relations between people from different groups.
Equality, diversity and fairness are good for our business and good for our customers, staff, stakeholders and partners. They are crucial to our role as a leader for community wellbeing.
We will publish details of our performance on equality and diversity in our annual reports to residents and update the statement at least every three years.
